Leo Varadkar: Electricity at data centres would be cut off before households

Eirgrid has said there are serious issues with Ireland’s energy supply

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said that the risk of households experiencing electricity blackouts this winter is “very low” because data-centres will be cut-off first.

It comes after warnings from Eirgrid that it could not rule out the possiblity of blackouts in the coming months due to a significant deterioration in Ireland’s supply of power.
