Violet-Anne Wynne, the Independent TD, is objecting to a plan to house asylum seekers in a former office building in Clare.

The Department of Children and Integration is seeking move in 23 people into Corliss House in the town of Kilrush.

Wynne has objected to the proposal on the grounds that there are not enough public services available in the west Clare area.

“I think the whole idea of farming international protection applicants out to really peripheral parts of rural constituencies that are already at a significant deficit of access to basic public services is not acceptable,” she told the Business Post.
