Simon Harris, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, has been called in to resolve a row about €16 million-worth of pension top-ups for university academics.

These pension top-ups, known as ‘added years’, mean that an academic who joined a university at a later stage in their career can still get a full public sector pension.
