Harris asked to intervene in UCC €16m academic pensions top-ups row
Minister has agreed to help sort out long-running dispute between the university and the Higher Education Authority over who should foot the bill
Simon Harris, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, has been called in to resolve a row about €16 million-worth of pension top-ups for university academics.
These pension top-ups, known as ‘added years’, mean that an academic who joined a university at a later stage in their career can still get a full public sector pension.
