The government will be warned against “repeating the mistakes of Budget 2023” in this year’s budgetary package, as an independent think-tank reinstates its own calls for a €25 increase to core social welfare measures.

At today’s budget forum, hosted by Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys, Social Justice Ireland (SJI) will call on the government to implement targeted measures over once-off supports like those introduced last year, “which saw a widening of the rich/poor gap”.
