Government policies failing to address both climate and energy poverty – report

Friends of the Earth report found that the government’s existing approach to both emissions reductions and energy poverty are not delivering on either front

Amongst the 49 policy proposals made by Friends of the Earth Ireland were broadening the availability of retrofitting grants, implementing district heating systems, and free BER assessments for low-income households.

The Irish government’s climate and energy poverty policies are failing to address either fossil fuel dependency or the energy price crisis, according to a new report from Friends of the Earth Ireland.

The report – Still left out in the cold – found that the government’s existing approach to both emissions reductions and energy poverty were not delivering on either front, and made 49 policy proposals to rectify that.
