Garda Commissioner makes u-turn on key garda division changes
Move from Drew Harris came after complaints by garda representative bodies over size of new divisions
Drew Harris, the Garda Commissioner, has carried out a u-turn on the reorganisation of garda divisions in response to complaints by Gardaí.
He first announced his plan to carry out the biggest reorganisation of the force in its history back in 2018.
It involved reducing the number of garda divisions in the country from 28 to 19 to cut down on bureaucracy in the force and increase the number of gardaí on the frontline.
