First cost rental homes in Limerick on the way

The Land Development Agency has agreed a deal with Cairn Homes to buy 81 cost rental homes in the Mills, a new estate in Castletroy in Limerick city

The apartments in Limerick are being delivered through the LDA’s Project Tosaigh plan, which is supposed to unlock 5,000 homes in stalled private developments with planning permission by 2026

The first cost rental homes in Limerick city are going to be delivered next year as part of a deal between the Land Development Agency and Cairn Homes.

The government has promised to deliver an average of 2,000 new cost rental homes every year, with targets of rents being at least 25 per cent below market level.

However, the majority of cost rental announcements so far have been in Dublin, Cork and Wicklow.
