Failings of care will lead to ‘state apology to people with disabilities in the future’

Oireachtas committee on disability chair says testimonies point to multiple shortcomings from childhood on by the state

The chair of the Oireachtas committee on disability has warned that a future taoiseach will be delivering a state apology to people with disabilities within the next 20 years.

Michael Moynihan, the Fianna Fáil Cork North West TD, said that the committee had heard testimony from people with disabilities about multiple state failings in education, health, transport and social care.
