Eviction ban comes into force until the end of March

The initiative will not apply to tenants who “wilfully” don’t pay their rent

The government is set to approve a ban on evictions in response to the cost of living crisis.

The cabinet gave the measure the green light when it met this morning. Speaking to RTÉ Radio 1 after it was approved, Darragh O’Brien, the Housing Minister, said it would give tenants “breathing space”.
