Editorial: Ireland cannot be seen to be weak on EU sanctions against Putin’s Russia

The reported sale of Irish aircraft to the Russian airline Aeroflot is embarrassing for the government and another reminder that Ireland needs to resource its intelligence services properly

Alarm bells always go off in government when the European Commission starts asking questions. The issue around which questions are now being asked is the reported sale of ten Boeing 777 planes to Aeroflot, the state-owned Russian airline, by an Irish company.
