Eamon Ryan to phase out free car parking for Department of Transport staff

Minister for Transport wants to cut emissions by encouraging the use of public transport, cycling, walking and even ‘running to work’

Eamon Ryan, the Minister for Transport, is planning to phase out free car parking spaces for staff in his department to cut carbon emissions.

His department has around 30 car parking spaces for staff in its underground car park in its headquarters in Leeson Lane in Dublin.

It has drawn up a roadmap to achieve its own targets of halving carbon emissions by 2030, in line with the overall national target.
