Eamon Ryan has warned that there is a “climate limit” to the number of gas-powered data centres that can be accommodated in a blow to global giants seeking to increase their use.

A growing number of data centre operators have sought gas connections as a way of bypassing an effective moratorium on data centres connecting to the electricity grid in the Dublin region since 2022.
