Ceann Comhairle warns about risk of US Capitol riots-style storming of the Dáil

Seán Ó’Fearghaíl, the Ceann Comhairle, has warned that there is a risk of a Capitol Hill-style storming of the Dáil if a repeat of yesterday’s “vile” protest is allowed to happen again.

Around 13 people were arrested by Gardaí during aggressive protests outside Leinster House, which involved some TDs and staff being subjected to intimidation, verbal abuse and jostling.

In the Dáil, Ó’Fearghaíl, condemned the protests as “vile and vicious.”
