Catherine Martin ‘regrets’ Ní Raghallaigh’s resignation in wake of scathing interview

Media minister says that she would have preferred to meet with the RTÉ board chair once more before she stood down

Catherine Martin has told an Oireachtas committee that she “regrets” Siún Ní Raghallaigh’s decision to stand down as chair of the RTÉ board before the pair had the chance to discuss the ongoing exit payments saga at the national broadcaster once more.

It comes as the media minister is under pressure following Ní Raghallaigh’s shock resignation, which came after Martin failed to express confidence in the chair’s leadership in a live interview.
