UK's climate emergency declaration is the easy part

The kind of action required for this emergency demands a kind of joined-up thinking, planning and execution which will make the Brexit project look like a prosecco picnic in the park

British politics has been in turmoil over many months, but this week MPs managed to gather themselves up and do the right thing. In an extraordinary moment of cross-party sanity, politicians voted on a Labour motion to declare "an environment and climate change emergency".

This must be considered as the first time that Parliament has made a declaration in favour of dramatic change in peacetime.
