In a crisis, we shouldn’t wait to implement ‘perfect’ solutions

It’s time to set aside the ban on bedsits and other imperfect accommodation as reports highlight the damage done to those living in hotels and hubs

Sometimes, as a minister answers Dáil questions, an obvious but revealing truth emerges. On Tuesday, as Damien English replied to questions on housing, he said: “As all members know, if it was possible to build houses immediately and deliver them straight away that would be best, but one cannot. People need homes today.”
