In making choices, the role of national stereotypes can be significant. From holiday destination to sporting sympathy, many choices are influenced by the perceived character of the country concerned.

Ireland for example - benefitting from our perceived national friendliness - is both a magnet for tourists and often the most supported second team at major sports events such as the European Football Championship.
