Australians remember forgotten Irish girls: Why can’t we?

At a Sydney museum, the lives of 4,114 Irish children are memorialised. We must do the same for other lost children and the Magdalenes

On the other side of the world, there is a museum to remember 4,114 Irish children.

Aged between 12 and 17, these girls were handpicked from the Irish workhouses and shipped to Australia between 1848 and 1850 to provide the British colony with servants, wives and mothers.
