‘You are wrong as a matter of law’: Judge rules Simeon Burke trial can proceed
Inquiry had been due to view CCTV footage on Friday morning of the events leading up to the 24-year-old law student’s arrest on March 7 at the Court of Appeal
A High Court judge has ruled that the trial of Simeon Burke, the younger brother of sacked teacher Enoch, can proceed on Monday.
Mr Justice Brian Cregan dismissed an attempt by Burke, who faces a public order charge, to have his detention declared unconstitutional.
The judge rejected Burke’s claims that he was not properly arrested and said it was “completely unacceptable” for him to make allegations that the gardaí were being dishonest.
