Wind energy accounted for a record 35 per cent of Ireland’s overall electricity mix last year as total energy generation from wind farms reached a record level in 2023.
New figures published by industry body Wind Energy Ireland show wind farms produced a record breaking 13,725 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity last year, which equated to more than a third of Ireland’s energy needs last year.
