Blackstone, the US private equity giant, is in talks to acquire Winthrop technologies, the Irish data centre company founded and controlled by businessman Barry English.

The New York-based fund is said to be negotiating with the Irish company for a deal that values Winthrop Technologies at in excess of €800 million, according to a report by Sky News.
