Ireland’s biggest universities warned the government that inflation, planning delays and funding shortages could scupper their plans to develop new student accommodation amid an ongoing crisis of availability.

Records released to the Business Post show that almost none of the country’s universities were in a position to open up new accommodation options ahead of the start of this year, even as students across the country grappled with widespread housing shortages.
