Unemployment edges 0.1% higher in December amid European job boom

Unemployment in Ireland rose slightly in December, now standing at 4.9 per cent, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The jobless figures rose 0.1 per cent on a month-by-month basis, and is up 0.6 per cent from the same month last year.

Despite these increases, analysts remain optimistic.
