The company that owns John Player and Rizla, the tobacco brands, has called on the government to introduce an excise tax on vapes to bring “order and control” to the e-cigarette market.

Imperial Brands, which recently launched a brand of vapes called Blu Bar in Ireland, has made the call amid a dramatic rise in the popularity of disposable vapes, which has prompted concerns over the health implications for young people and the environmental impact.
