In isolation, Bank of Ireland’s technical glitch that allowed customers to gain access to funds beyond those actually in their accounts, looks bad. Viewing it in the context of a series of technical mishaps the bank, which is on course for record profits, has made in recent years, casts the latest debacle in an even less favourable light.
