Social media company TikTok is facing a fine said to be worth hundreds of millions of euros for violating children’s privacy on its video-sharing app, it has been reported.

The Chinese-owned company currently employs more than 3,000 people in Ireland.

It has been under what has been described as a large-scale investigation by European authorities for two years in a case centred on the processing of children’s personal data.
