TikTok and Universal Music reach licensing agreement

The deal resolves a long-running dispute between the world’s biggest record label and the social media platform

Universal Music Group, the world’s biggest record label, said it has entered a new licensing agreement with TikTok, ending a dispute that led to its artists’ songs being pulled from the social media platform.

The joint agreement will lead to “improved remuneration” for Universal Music’s songwriters and artists, new promotional and engagement opportunities for their songs and protections with respect to generative AI, the two companies said in a statement on Thursday.
