‘The eyes of Europe are on Ireland’, says new media and internet regulator

Ireland’s new laws to regulate platforms such as YouTube and TikTok will draw significant attention from the rest of the European Union, according to Jeremy Godfrey, executive chair of Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM).

CnaM was created to replace the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and formally started operations in March.

All content created by any organisation, primarily media focused or otherwise, with its EU headquarters in Ireland will be regulated by CnaM.
