The joint administrators of The Body Shop have confirmed they are closing seven of the retailer’s shops in the UK with immediate effect.

Tony Wright, Geoff Rowley, and Alastair Massey, the joint administrators, made the decision as part of a restructuring plan to secure the future of the retailer.

In a statement they said that the current store portfolio mix was no longer viable due to “years of unprofitability”. The statement added that seven stores would shut on Tuesday with additional closures to follow.
