Tesla shares tumble as 2 million vehicles recalled over self-drive function

US regulators claim car company’s ability to keep drivers engaged were inadequate

Elon Musk has for years predicted the carmaker is on the verge of offering complete autonomy

Tesla is recalling 2 million vehicles after US regulators raised concerns over its self-driving autopilot function.

A NHTSA spokesperson said the probe found that Tesla’s ability to keep drivers engaged were inadequate.
