Tech unicorn Flipdish warns of ‘Amazonification’ of restaurant sector

Food ordering platform says Amazon’s foray into the food delivery space is bad news for restaurants and customers

The restaurant sector is in danger of being decimated in much the same way as the retail industry has been by the encroachment of Amazon into the space, the chief executive of Flipdish, the Irish food ordering company, has warned.

Speaking to the Business Post, Conor McCarthy, who along with his brother James founded the tech unicorn in 2015, said the e-commerce giant’s expansion spelt danger for restaurants and customers.
