Tara Mines staff to raise concerns with politicians two days before lay-offs set to begin

Workers and unions at Tara Mines will meet with Oireachtas members on Wednesday afternoon, just two days before mass lay-offs are set to commence.

Boliden, the Swedish parent company of the Co Meath facility, announced in June that it will temporarily suspend production and exploration operations, resulting in the temporary lay-off of 650 employees. The Business Post later learned that an extra 160 staff working as contractors at the mine will also be affected.
