Health: Stephen Donnelly secures €1.1bn in extra funding to help plug gaping hole in budget
HSE to be given additional funding to recruit extra staff next year to bring overall package to €22.5 billion
Stephen Donnelly, the Minister for Health, has managed to secure over €1.1billion in extra funding for the health service next year.
The health budget is due to increase by €1.1 billion to €22.5 billion next year. This includes €800 million in extra core health funding and €282 million of additional non-core funding to help the HSE cope with the ongoing costs from Covid-19, including the vaccination programme.
