State-backed body awards €5.3m to biophotonics research

Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) - the statuatory body - has awarded a €5.3 million grant to Prof Stefan Andersson-Engels to lead research into biophotonics science.

The funding will be used to advance the fundamental understanding of the field, which uses the application of light-based technologies in life sciences and medicine with the Tyndall National Institute in Cork.
