Big Red Book, the Glenageary-based accounting software firm, was named on Revenue’s tax defaulter list and fined almost half a million euro.

The latest tax defaulters list shows €5.01 million was paid in settlements across 16 cases in total.

The Big Red Book was fined €464,568 for under-declaration of corporation tax and PAYE, USC and PRSI. This included interest amounting to €102,687, and a €83,511 penalty.

Marc O’Dwyer, its founder and chief executive, told the Business Post, the default resulted from a “clear misinterpretation around the costing of expenses”.
