Smurfit Kappa, the paper and cardboard manufacturer, has given its top executives more than €16 million worth of share-based bonuses, new stock exchange filings show.

Chief executive Tony Smurfit got the largest tranche of awards that vested under the company’s deferred bonus scheme and its performance share plan.

At Smurfit Kappa’s current share price of €31.50, the total value of those vesting shares would be €3 million on the open market.
