Small firms body calls for launch of auto-enrolment pension scheme to be postponed

Businesses are already dealing with a raft of changes to employee benefits and pressures of inflation

The Small Firms Association (SFA) has called for the launch of the government’s long-delayed auto-enrolment pension scheme to be pushed back.

The rollout of the national scheme is due to begin at the end of this year and will target the 725,000 workers in the state with no private pension.

Every worker on a salary of over €20,000 will be automatically “opted-in” to the pension scheme. It was supposed to be launched last year, but ...
