The final cost of the Siteserv report into the sale of the company to Denis O’Brien ran to €17.5 million, according to new figures published by the state’s commission of investigation.

In a final report released on Tuesday, Mr Justice Brian Cregan, who led the commission of investigation into Siteserv, said it was “impossible” to conduct a commission in the modern era and issued a number of sharp criticisms of how Ireland conducts public inquiries.
