The government will be in a position to progress changes to tax, social welfare measures, and family supports in this year’s budget, Simon Harris has said.

Speaking to reporters in Dublin on Monday, the taoiseach said he would not be providing a “running commentary on every idea” in relation to this year’s budget but confirmed that the country’s finances would allow additional measures to support employees and families, as well as tax changes.

His comments come after Fianna Fáil on Saturday pledged further tax cuts and cost-of-living supports in October’s package at the party’s annual Ard Fheis.
