A total of 66 entries have been shortlisted for the third annual edition of the PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards.

The awards received a record number of entries this year, garnering more 150 submissions from 100 businesses active in Ireland.

The awards programme has been extended to 13 categories, reflecting the strong growth in interest in the awards this year.

Daniel McConnell, the editor at the Business Post, said he was delighted to see such a strong set of entries from across a broad range of businesses and industries.

Leadership, innovation, investment and ingenuity

“The Sustainable Business Awards continue to go from strength to strength each year and have again attracted entries from some of Ireland’s finest business leaders and their companies.

“The range of entries received this year is testament to the commitment of Irish business people to sustainability, and we’re delighted to be able to showcase their efforts through these annual awards. We’d particularly like to thank PwC for their ongoing support of the awards and look forward to welcoming everyone to the showcase event on March 21,” he said.

Established in 2022, the PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards recognise leadership, innovation, investment and ingenuity in the areas of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).

Past winners have included An Post, Bus Eireann, Bord na Mona and University College Cork.

Recognising genuine efforts

McConnell said the Business Post prides itself on the quality of its energy, environmental and social coverage.

“The Business Post invests more in ESG journalism than any other Irish national media outlet. In addition to daily news and analysis, plus a dedicated ESG newsletter, we produce the leading environmental journalism podcast Five Degrees of Change, hosted by Daniel Murray,” he said.

The involvement of the Business Post editorial team in the shortlisting and final adjudication of the awards is an effort to bring those standards and in-house expertise to the process, which makes these awards different to many other environmental awards in Ireland.

By doing so, we hope to recognise genuine efforts being made in the business community in tackling their environmental footprints.

David McGee, PwC Ireland ESG Leader, said the awards “celebrate best in class Irish businesses across a wide range of ESG categories that invest in and promote sustainable practices, innovation and leadership.
