Shortfall in number of builders on-site at €1.7bn children’s hospital

The number of builders working on the National Children’s Hospital is still short of the level agreed in the state’s programme with its main contractor, leaving “actual” progress on the project behind schedule.

In a recent letter, the Department of Health said that the “the productive labour resource provided on site is below that set out within the main contractor’s construction programme and actual progress is below that planned within the programme”.
