International shipping and freight costs are likely to remain permanently higher in the years ahead, a senior executive in one of the world’s largest shipping companies has warned.

Vincent Clerc, chief executive of ocean logistics with Maersk, the Danish shipping giant, said he expects international shipping rates will stay at least 25 per cent higher from now on due to widespread inflationary pressure in the logistics industry.
