Martin Shanahan has announced he will step down as chief executive of IDA Ireland next year.

Shanahan has led the state’s inward investment agency since 2014 and has overseen a decade of major expansion of foreign direct investment flows into Ireland to record levels last year.

Frank Ryan, chairman of IDA Ireland, paid tribute to Martin Shanahan, saying that he had “served the agency and the country with distinction”.
