Security spend at homes of ministers and officials to top €3m

By the end of this year, the state expects that security arrangements at private residences will have cost more than €3m since 2018

Spending on security at the residences of government ministers and state officials is likely to top €3 million by the end of 2022, new five-year figures show.

Figures provided to the Dáil’s spending watchdog show the money spent on security arrangements has come to nearly €2.5 million since 2018.

And the Office of Public Works (OPW), which looks after the costs, said it had budgeted for expenditure of €650,000 for the current year.
