Schrems files complaint over Ryanair’s use of ‘invasive’ facial recognition technology

Austrian privacy campaigner Max Schrems has filed a complaint against Ryanair, alleging the airline is violating customers' data protection rights by using facial recognition to verify their identity when booking through online travel agents.

Nyob, a digital rights organisation headed by Schrems, who is best known for his campaigns against Facebook-parent Meta for privacy violations, said it had filed the complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
