RTÉ to buy ad space on rival channels to promote TV licence

Campaign comes as further controversy engulfs national broadcaster

RTÉ is to recommence advertising on independent national television and radio stations reminding the public of the need to pay their €160 annual TV licence fee.

From next week, the broadcaster will begin a series of advertisements on non-RTÉ platforms, including Virgin Media, with a plan to spend €120,000 on the campaign over the next three months.
