Roscrea: Protests quietened amid murmurs of ‘sweetheart deal’

Amid a maelstrom of protest in Roscrea last week, the bishops called for calm and the government bought a hotel.

The town in Co Tipperary with a population of 5,500 people last week became the latest community in Ireland to witness protests over plans to house asylum seekers in the area.
