The number of empty commercial buildings in Ireland reached a record high at the end of last year, with vacant property levels in Dublin the highest since 2016, a new report has shown.

Research published by GeoDirectory, the data intelligence unit of An Post, has said the national commercial vacancy rate increased 0.3 percentage points to 14.3 per cent in the final quarter of 2023.

In total, there were 30,046 empty commercial units across the country at the end of last year, compared to 29,581 vacant units at the end of 2022.
