Revealed: The counties and sectors struggling under the weight of pandemic tax debt

New figures show more than 57,000 firms have warehoused almost €1.8 billion of pandemic-era debt with Revenue

Construction firms and retailers are the worst affected by pandemic-era tax debts, new figures show.

In total, more than 57,700 businesses are still struggling under the weight of a combined €1.75 billion debt burden stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The bulk of the debt, €1.5 billion, has been warehoused, or deferred, by 5,350 customers, who have outstanding balances greater than €50,000.
