Revealed: Developers’ success in 90% of fire safety cases

Property developers have been successful in amending or overturning fire safety conditions imposed by local authorities in nearly 90 per cent of appeals to An Bord Pleanála, according to an analysis by the Business Post.

The figures, which come as the government has announced a new public review of fire safety regulations, have been described as “astonishing and deeply disturbing” by Eoin Ó Broin, Sinn Féin’s spokesman for housing.
